MicroSolv: RSA Glass - Reduced Surface Activity Glass Vials

RSA Glass vials and inserts have been specially developed for working with low abundance analytes. They are manufactured using a revolutionary patented production process that virtually eliminates all silanols and produces glass which has a greatly reduced surface activity for basic compounds. The reduced surface activity of these vials makes them an excellent choice for many applications, including biological, natural products and basic compounds, or when accurate quantitation is vital.

During the production of standard borosilicate glass vials and inserts, the intense heat used can cause some of the glass to become a gas, which when cooling will sublimate onto the surface of the vials forming a silicate layer. Aqueous sample diluents can deprotonate the surface hydroxyls, resulting in acidic silanols which can cause adsorption of basic compounds or change the sample solution pH, making them undetectable.

However, with RSA autosampler glass vials and inserts there is virtually no loss of sample to the vial and no pH shifting, making analyses more reliable and reproducible.
