General programme

We have a  Graduate Development Scheme, based in our modern air conditioned premises in Theale, Berkshire.

The General Development Programme is suitable for graduates with a good Honours Degree (or equivalent) / PhD in any discipline. It offers structured training over a two year period.

Salary and benefits:

£18,000 - £25,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications and will be reviewed annually on a merit basis.

Benefits include 23 days holiday plus Bank Holidays (and an extra day for each year of service up to 28 days), a contributory pension scheme, life assurance and flexible working hours.

Qualifications required:

Good Honours degree (or equivalent) / PhD in any subject.

Essential  skills:

Excellent communication skills, commitment to providing a high quality service, willingness to learn and the ability to meet deadlines and work as part of a team.


38¾ hours per week, Monday to Friday (flexible hours)

Starting date:

As soon as possible


You will start your training with our Sales Services team, supporting customers and our network of international distributors. Here you will gain experience in customer service, account management, export procedures, order despatch, sales analysis and database management.You will then gain experience in other main departments at Hichrom – eg Marketing, Purchasing and Finance.


You will be given a broad base of training over a structured two year period including comprehensive formal training and hands-on practical experience working as part of a supportive, friendly team.


You will also develop a range of general and leadership skills through formal training sessions in areas such as:


  • Communications
  • Making effective presentations
  • Time management/planning
  • First aid, fire and safety training.
